Grasshopper Manufacture has confirmed Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered will release for PS5 and PS4 this Halloween, priced at just £19.99 / $24.99. Pre-orders are live on the PS Store now, and offer three days of early access prior to the 31st October 2024 launch. A suitably bonkers trailer has been published to commemorate the release date news, which you can check out above.
The 4K remaster of the PS3 original will also sport a New Game+ option and four bonus costumes. "Join the crass Garcia Hotspur and his boney buddy, Johnson, as they traverse the depths of the Underworld to steal back Garcia's kidnapped lover, Paula, from the clutches of Fleming, the Lord of the Underworld," the PS Store listing teases. It seems there will be a physical version too, provided by Limited Run Games.
Shadows of the Damned first released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, where it garnered a bit of a cult following and has been a fan-favourite ever since. With its remaster now set for Halloween, it's been noted by fans how it's now one of three PS3 classics making a comeback in a short space of time. There's the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster on 19th September, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP on 25th September, and then Shadows of the Damned arrives one month later.

Perfect pricing. Been meaning to play this one on the PS3 but... let's just say the time for collecting games at a reasonable price for that console is nearing it's end😂.
Would love to see a port of killer is dead too!
Very good price for this definitely will be tempted loved Suda's PS3 era work. Anybody got an idea how much Lollipop will be?
@bindiana Unfortunately that one's gonna be $50, for the physical version at least. I'm hoping the digital will only be $40 but I might just wait for that one to go on sale.
Name dropping Suda51, Shinji Mikami and others not once, not twice but EIGHT times is a choice. lol.
Be rude not to at that price
Nice and a decent price too..
A suitably off-kilter trailer too..
Interesting to see how much the physical will be, I would buy it again to go alongside the original, brilliant game!
I completely missed/ was too young to appreciate Suda51 games during the PS3 era, so definitely looking forward to these
Will buy on PS5 if it has DualSense features incorporated. If not, can get most games cheaper on Series X or PC.
@yohn777
Thanks do you know if the physical is just from Limited run games or will there be a proper release in Europe/USA? I see play asia are doing a japanese physical version.
@bindiana Hm all I'm seeing is for LRG & PlayAsia. The PlayAsia version has English dub but I know the shipping from them isn't ideal either. For US there's a good chance copies will be sold at Best Buy around the time the LRG preorders start arriving, which is in December.
Never heard of this game so may give it a whirl at that price point 👉
This game was such a hidden gem.
Hopefully it becomes less hidden with this release.
Nice I never did finish the OG version back on the 360, will definitely get the remaster at some point.
Shame physical is only by the scummy LRG so guess I won’t be it getting physically.
Don’t get why companies don’t seem to be doing proper retail physical versions of some games
@HeeHo
It’s the same with Resonance of Fate and Vanquish both of which had remasters for the PS4, hoping Enslaved gets one at some point
I give the trailer 2/10 because it didn't have enough:
Can only endorse this sort of pricing
Awesome, now i will take one Killer 7 and one Killer Is Dead for dessert please.
Cool.i remember playing shadow of the damned on the ps3.it was a good game.thats good a lot of people will get to play it again or for the first time.word up son
One of my absolute favourite games of the PS360 era. I played it on the 360 and got every achievement (as I recall, the difficulty achievements did not stack, so you had to play the game through multiple times to get each difficulty achievement), and after I had done that, I played it through once more on the hardest difficulty (which did not have an achievement attached) just for fun. The game is that good. Will be pre-ordering the game today...
That trailer alone makes me want this!
I never played it on original release, so this will be a great time to jump in.
I’ll be damned if I let this game go by me. I’ll be picking it up day one on PS5. We need more games like these, and by these I mean campy, doesn’t take itself too seriously, and is just a fun time. We got one recently with Evil West.
I thought the pricing was in error at first. Had $25 in rewards from Stars being down, so i have my free game in place now
We get a remaster for this C-grade, 13 year old game and yet Bloodborne has nary a remaster in sight. Oh the injustice of it all…….
Once was enough for me on this back on the PS3. Pass.
I still have my PS3 copy. I enjoyed the game but i probably skip this remaster.
Amazing trailer. Loved loved loooved the different labels they gave to Mikami 😆 I'd buy it physically even if it was double the price tbh, here's hoping 🤞
Edit: lol just read the article in full. LRG is a no from me 🥲
@TheAmbienWalrus same, physical only ftw! @PushSquare could you please add a sentence like "physical edition available" in the articles, or an acknowledgement about the physical availability on the main page of the games?
@PerpetualBoredom The article does mention that a physical version is likely, but it hasn't been officially announced by Limited Run Games yet.
@LiamCroft Thanks Liam, but I meant generally as a journalistic practice (or how one calls that). For example in a review or within news. I for myself only buy physical so it would be nice to know right away!
I'll get this on Xbox as I have the original 360 version still playable on Series X. With Killer Is Dead also playable, and Lollipop Chainsaw upcoming, all I need is a Killer7 and NMH 1+2 ports to be happy.
Killer7 came out on PC a while back and HD ports of NMH are on Switch so it's baffling to me that they haven't released everywhere else.
Well hot damn I was not expecting that.
@TheAmbienWalrus I think of a normal comment and then just write the opposite. Works wonders here but it also goes a long way with my wife and boss at work
@TheAmbienWalrus That was sarcasm? I thought you really liked me, so I explained how sarcasm works and then called my mother to tell her someone thinks I'm funny.
Oh well, I guess I'll get my daily dose of approval by trophy hunting
"it's been noted by fans how it's now one of three PS3 classics making a comeback in a short space of time. There's the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster"
Dead Rising didn't release on PS3, though?
@TheAmbienWalrus After 700 sarcastic remarks on this site some filler jokes are unfortunately the reality. But you're right, we're not barbarians so from now on I'll do it like the classic Sum 41 album is titled: All killer no filler
@TheAmbienWalrus I knew you were a man of culture as well. It is and the name suits it because it's one of rare albums I can listen to from start to finish
The more PS3 games that come to ps4/ps5 for PURCHASE the happier I become!! Keep em coming!!!
Getting it day 1 to support the studio.
Shocked how good that price is, holy crap! 👏 👏 👏 😍
@Czar_Khastik Nothing Sum 41 equates to being cultured. lol
Gonna be a good Halloween for horror games between this, Silent Hill 2, and the physical release of Alan Wake 2.
Nothing beats playing horror games during the spooky season.
@homelesscretin
You ain't wrong, PS3 collecting is getting a bit pricy. I know people don't like the constant re-releases, but it brings old games back into the conversation and it's a good option for most people who don't have these older systems.
Plus, always the possibility we get a physical release on modern systems.
The price is definitely right. Now the big choice is to get it for my ps4 or my series xbox.
